Brian,
You said, “I can answer any one or all of those questions but my experience has shown that asking another question can prove another to be wrong or merely serve to change the topic - smoke and mirrors.”
Ok, by your own definition then, your first post to me (post # 34333) was nothing more than “smoke and mirrors”.
So, lets get back to the original “issue at hand”
In my original post, I asked if you would read three scriptures…1Peter 3:15, 2Timothy 2:24-25 and Galatians 5:22-23 and take them to heart. So, the implied issue is…I don’t feel that your responses serve as a representation of these scriptures.
Now, why would I feel that way? Here’s a cut and paste sample of a few of your responses:
“I repeat - you idiot.” “I am not feigning speechlessness. To be honest - I am just tired of you and your non-sense.” “Go fetch yourself – idiot” “Apologetics does not mean the same thing as apologize you idiot.”
…and this one was appalling in my opinion “I pity you for your choice in marriage. You have tough row to hoe. As for me - what am I to you? (yes yes I am sure your happy - tell someone who will believe you) Forget about taking up his futile cause. I put him on ignore - you can not.”
Brian, I think that we can all agree that these responses do not agree with the Bible. I’ve seen a lot of Christians turn people away from Christ with responses like this. As Christians we are called to spread the good news of the Gospel and we are instructed about how we should approach all people (with gentleness and respect…not with name calling and extreme sarcasm) Just my opinion…no hard feelings I hope.
Alright, next issues…you’re free to judge all you want, but remember that you will be judged by the same measuring stick - so make sure you’re not guilty of their sin bro. But keep this in mind...1Corinthians 5:12 "What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?"
I was talking about eternal judgment in saying that only God can truly see inside a man's heart...of course, eternal judgment is for the Lord. I should have been more clear. 'You’re right, Christ was not speaking in love to the particular clergy he called vipers…but I think Christ had more than a clue about their eternal future and had the authority to call them out. We are not instructed to go around calling people vipers and sons of satan...opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth. (but of course, I will not be keeping company with people that I think are wicked) Yes, I know who the swine are but I haven’t noticed anyone turning to rend me…yet. If they do, I’ll keep my pearls in my pocket.
Whew, I’ve got to take a break from the computer. Be blessed brother and thanks for this discussion. |
