You may have me on that one... I got the figure from a program I was watching recently (I believe on History Channel).. I'll have to check around for a source that differs from yours.. But until then, I will defer to your documented info..

Korea was officially a police action not a war in US parlance. 600,000 Koreans had died and perhaps a million Chinese.
This is obviously less than scientific.. but there is considerable speculation as to actual Chinese casualities since they obviously had little reason to publicize their actual casualities, including starvation, exposure.. etc.., just as the Americans would have an interest in exaggerating the number of casualities inflicted (as if that somehow mitigated the war ending in a "draw")..
And here's a link to casualty counts for most of the major conflicts during the past century:

North Korea: Military: 130,000 KIA (Pentagon: ¼ "KWM"); 214,899 (Regiments.org); 294,151 (Nahm93); 214,899 KIA + 101,680 MIA (Wallechinsky); 350,000 (Rummel); 520,000 (Small & Singer) Civilian: 406,000 killed + 680,000 missing (Nahm93); "As many as" 1,000,000 (Wallechinsky); 1,185,000 (Rummel) Military + Civilian: 500,000 (Britannica); 700,000 (Dictionary of 20C World History); 926,000 (Compton's)
China: 225,000 KIA (Pentagon: ¼ "KWM"); 401,401 (Regiments.org: "highly suspect"); 401,401 KIA + 21,211 MIA (Wallechinsky); 500,000 (Rummel); 900,000 (Compton's, S&S); 1,000,000 (Britannica)
So maybe the "million casualty" figure is derived from combining both N. Korean and Chinese casualties..
Either way... a tremendous waste of human life all due the the expansionistic designs of a Stalinist madman..
And his son is no different... willing to push the envelope to the point where war becomes unavoidable (as he paints himself into a country from which potential loss of "face" and will not permit him to retreat).
So he'll drag the whole peninsula, with China's complicity...
