S2,

we had some sailors that were quite experienced and we ran
our own practices in larks and 470s in a place called Cundys Harbor --

Here's me on my 470 last summer.

pbase.com

It isn't as easy I thought it would be to sail by myself.

Got any tips on how to sail it with just one person?
I suppose I could rig the lines up so they all end closer
to where I sit.

I also have to find a place that sells the small steel
cables and dohickeys to help me repair the cable that pulls
up and holds the mainsail up. I broke the end that clips
into the top of the mast under the two fingers. It has a
crimped on fitting that locks in up there and then I could
pull the sail tight down below it using the whatchamacallit.

I also want to make a snap on cover for it so I can moor it
down at the lake so I don't have to keep trailering it up
and down the hill each time I go to the lake.

My boat rides nicely in light air.

In heavier winds it scares me a bit. I have a lot of
learning to do still.

You might be able to make out the 470 on the sail. Below
it are the letters UM. The boat was originally owned by
the University of Michigan. I imagine it sailed the Great
Lakes quite often.

You can click "Next" and see a better picture of the sail.
There are a few other shots as well.

Bring back any memories?

Perhaps you were the one who would hike all the way out
with the trapeze.

I haven't used that yet.
