That attitude represents a disengaged and callous thought process toward the men and women who serve in our military. Nice quality of life, living in the desert and receiving telegrams from home, basically forever.
Which country in the middle east would build the housing, the barracks, and the training center for military personnel who intend to stay indefinitely? America can't afford (and I mean spiritually), to keep a 150 thousand manned army on the doorsteps of Iraq forever.
Behind practically every one of those numbers is a father, mother, or son, who longs to be home and is deeply affected by the separation. Most Americans haven't a clue of the toll it takes on military families, who worry and pray night after night for their loved ones to return. These people aren't machines. It's tough enough getting people to volunteer to take three year assignments overseas in Europe, where the host country has gone out of its way to provide infrastructure support.
Hussein must disarm, he must show us where the WMD are and destroy them immediately! Anything less is a dangerous game, a complete waste of time. He's had nearly twelve years to comply with U.N mandates and has toyed with the world for far too long. |
