Pope voices worry that war will disturb entire Middle East Vatican City-AP -- Pope John Paul is concerned that a war with Iraq will "unsettle the entire Middle East." In his Sunday message to the faithful in St. Peter's Square, the pope called on Catholics to fast March fifth -- Ash Wednesday -- to show support for peace. He says "the future of humanity" will never be determined "by the logic of war" or terrorism. Quoting from the Gospel of Matthew, the pope finished his appeal by declaring that "blessed are the peacemakers."
