I am puzzled, too, if you think there is an obvious reason, because I don't. Why are Canadians anti-American?
Heck, I can't even tell the difference between a Canadian and an American, except the accent, sometimes.
I know why Yankees hate Southerners -- they think Southerners are stupid, and marry their cousins, and are inclined to give Yankees the "Deliverance" treatment.
I know why Southerners hate New Yorkers -- they think they talk too fast, and can't be trusted, and a lot of them are Jewish. A lot of Southerners call it "Jew York," and they call my alma mater, Tulane, "Jewlane," because so many New Yorkers go there.
I know that both of these prejudices are just that, prejudices, and are not normally considered appropriate topics of conversation in polite company. |
