<<I fail to understand how/why religion/sex matters in making a political choice.>>

<I find that hard to believe, kumar. We all want to vote for people like ourselves. Human Nature. Antisemitism, and the belief that women are inferior is ingrained. Will take a long time to get rid of it, if ever. You grew up in India, and saw people there vote for their own kind. And kill the ones that were not.>

Bill, a further clarification of my response to you yesterday. India currently has a president that practices the Muslim faith. He's not the 1st muslim president either - Zakir Hussein was another one. India has also had a woman as Prime Minister of the country. Today, there are a few states in India that have women as Chief Ministers of their states. The leader of the major opposition party is a lady who is a Naturalized Indian of Italian origin.

Perhaps the above data helps you understand why I feel that religion/sex should not be a factor in making political choices.
