I hope for the sake of our soldiers, and for the sake of the Iraqi civilian population that urban combat will not happen. However, Saddam must know that next to the wider world's genuine call for peace, that seizing Baghdad is Bush's next weakest link. If he has convinced his soldiers of this, and his citizens are armed, as has been reported, Baghdad could well become a blood bath.

Of the two--blood bath or waiting it out--I think Bush is gonna be forced to wait.

I think Bush once had the table set to move his war machine at the conclusion of the last Security Council meeting, thinking that Blix was going to hand deliver the evidence that Bush would need to move forward. But Blix didn't fall prety to the day-before lobby campaign of Condezza Rice, and instead choose to hold steady and balanced his reporting of the fact.
