Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Utah allow current inmates to vote. Connecticut allows felons on probation to vote. Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Virginia and Wyoming permanently prohibit voting for convicted felons. The rest of the states are somewhere in between. I personally disapprove of present or former convicts ever returning to the voting booth. Also, prohibitions on the possession of fire arms by convicted felons vary significantly from state to state. I also believe the right to gun ownership should be forfeit by convicted felons, which is a view I consider consistent with my opinion on felon voting rights.
