he was referred to as "Planet" Rumsfeld by some in the officer corps. Hi, Bear! Welcome to the thread. Yeah, they thought their "Rain Dance" had worked. But Rummy is on to them. As Joe Klein said on TV yesterday, the Generals like to buy and play with their toys, but they don't want any interference. And don't ask them to take their toys anywhere that will get them broken or dirty! Klein said they had Clinton's number. He could not get them to do hardly anything. They "Rain Danced" him at every turn. He got them to go into Kosovo, but could not get them to send the Apache Choppers. Excuses, excuses. I think Franks almost got relieved over Afghanistan. He is an "Artillery General." Rummy could not figure out who he could replace him with that he liked better. Frank's HQ was extremely unhappy with the Special Forces as the only boots on the ground. I have heard that the 10th Mountain's deployment was a bad one. Waiting for more details. They sure "Screwed the Pooch" at Tora Bora.
