I still consider that it's possible to have talks with him and actually gain his assistance in tracking down the real terrorists: Al Qaeda. But Bush is hellbent and determined to, like Saddam, make a name for himself.

I agree. It was possible for both - Bush and Saddam - to have made a name for themselves. Even win a Nobel Peace Prize in the process. It was soooo damn easy to have let saddam save face, achieve the disarmament thru spreading health, education and prosperity in the region...and turning the winner (US&Bush) into a bigger winner. We're gonna have to spend much more now for a killing machine and make the world our enemy when we could have won a lot of allies in the world and exclusive gas and rebuilding contracts with Saddam too. And if someone says says US doesn't wanna do business with a despot - what else is Musharraf? And the Chinese? And the Saudis...not to mention a buncha other despots we nurture...

Bush has been awfully stupid.....awfully awfully stupid ! I'm sure he must be tortured by his own thoughts of what he could have done, but was stupid enough not to have....

But we've come too far.....the war now is a done deal...
