It is an enforcement of UN resolutions which are part of the peace treaty of the 1st gulf war. Only if league of nations would have guts to enforce it's treaties hitler would not have sufficient power to attack any of the neighbors and we would not know the horrors of WWII. Imagine yourself fighting for peace in early 30's thinking that you prevent death of few thousand germans and few hundred allies. Now imagine yourself been successful at that and very satisfied about saving those lives. Now imagine yourself a decade later blaming hitler for 56 million dead without taking any responsibility for supporting hitler Would you take a credit for saving hitler so he would cause the death of the millions then?
