"Let's take care of your smartass crack first."

It wasn't that. It was just friendly humour.

"Also, the other boat, under racing rules, had the right to protest us and have us disqualified. They did not do so."

Yes. They had the ability (and "right") to kill you and they didn't, too! A good thing, I guess!

"Well, you Canadians have already opted out. What's your bitch"

NO. We have not. Our government has said (for now) that they prefer to go to war as a coalition endeavor--not hard to figure...

"So are you suggesting that everyone else should drag anchor because the frogs are scared?"

I wasn't suggesting anything about any solutions for the French problem. If I made a point...I doubt if it will be understood.

"It appears to me that the rest of Canada is quite robust enough to survive"

Of course, we are. There is a fear, however, that any break up of Canada will lead to the inevitable erosion toward American assimilation. Much as most Canadians respect the United States...they do not necessarily wish to model American culture.

"So in that sense we are just as right as they."

Of course. More so in my opinion. As I have tried to convey: but their arrogance does not justify our own.

"They intend to sell arms to the war criminals right up until about 2 minutes before the surrender."

It is facts like this (if they are facts) which need to be brought out and aired to the world. War is won by diplomacy. The sword is much sharper with the support of public opinion.

"The French have become a bunch of pompous jerks in severe need of deflation."

That may be. There are thousands of journalists and astute thinkers covering world affairs and looking to the substance and the integrity of every word spoken by anyone who is anyone. You make your own bed and you lie in it: French, English, Russian, or ET.

"And they are NOT going to get their way. They had best get used to it."

Again, they have the right to their opinions and you have the right to point out inconsistencies, hidden agendas, and such. It is also ok to acknowledge when their words speak to the sensibilities of other Nations. I doubt they are all bad, and I doubt that the initiatives of Americans are all good. Indeed, America is the land of freedom of opinion...and they are certainly divided on the issue of war at this particular time.
