1. Tracking IP or serving a "cookie" cannot even slow down multiple voting by one person. A dial-up or home broadband user can simply keep redialing or deleting the cookie. It may work in situations where "voters" do not care about the results of the vote. In our case, certain people may have ulterior motives in influencing certain forecasts. Requiring registration and email confirmation makes it more difficult. It also makes it illegal as the registrant signs User Agreement that is clear about forecast manipulations. (We have additional ways how to control manipulations though as a disclaimer I should state that it never can be ruled out 100%.) 2. AllPredictive service is a membership service. Members benefit by sharing their predictions. An investor interested in a particular stock knows "something" about it and can make predictions. We are not asking members that they make "accurate" predictions (that can only be determined from the hindsight), just that they do their best. They can always update their predictions later.
