RESEARCH ALERT-Lamalie rated buy, stock up

NEW YORK, July 28 (Reuter) - Shares of Lamalie Associates Inc
rose Monday after the stock was rated a buy by Robert W. Baird
& Co Inc.

Shares of Lamalie, the fifth largest U.S. executive search firm,
rose 7/8 to 19-3/8, a new high. Baird, the lead underwriter of
the company's IPO earlier this month, gave the stock a 52-week
price range of $15 to $19 and estimated fiscal 1998 earnings at
$0.80 a share, and fiscal 1999 earnings at $0.91 a share.
``We believe Lamalie will continue to outshine the industry, growing
internally at a 20 to 25 percent rate via adding consultants and
clients and winning search assignments,'' Baird said in a research
report. It also said Lamalie could grow by acquisitions in a highly
fragmented industry. The stock first sold to IPO buyers for $12 a
share and has only been as low as 15-1/4 in its three-week history
on the public markets.
