how about this?

it would "nice" if domestic and foreign policy were such that it would generate a benevolent public "opinion" toward us...

but ultimately we (as do any other country) will do what is in the best interest of our people.

and they are entitled and welcome to their opinion.

just don't expect me to care about it.

i don't expect them to care about mine either.
