It would be an extension of the arguments apologists use against the USA regarding Iraq. The French have many contracts with Iraq in terms of industrial machines and those have allegedly been used to develop Iraqi weapons - the connection is that Iraq has been alleged to or could give weapons to terrorists developed on equipment purchased from France.

France has been a heavy participant in the food for oil program. The program is a bit misnamed because they allow non foodstuffs to be sold to Iraq......things like edu. books and supplies as well as oil equipment. I don't see how that equipment can be converted to weapons although I suppose anything is possible. However, it sounds to me like a lot of the misinformation being circulated about France because of their position in the UN and their power play with the US.

So when people claim the war is about oil, it's true oil and the monies France derives from it's lucrative contracts with Iraq. They are only protecting their self interests at the expense of their relationship with the USA.

It sounds very plausible; presumably the food for oil program will end if Saddam is taken out. But do you think that's the entire reason why France is jeopardizing their relationship with the US?
