We might have more mining risk where we think it is safe.

Wall Street Journal (today) had a nice article "Andean Arc of Instability" where it was concerned about the problems of Columbia and Venezuela moving into Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru. It seems the "rural poor" and "indigineous people" are getting a little more politically active.

This could have an impact on some major firms like Newmont (highly dependent on Peru for profits and exposed to Bolivia), Buenaventura (via Yanacocha), Barrick (Peru) Might be wise to pay attention to this region.
