Of course, the inspectors aren't talking about leaving him to his devices... they'd be taking his devices away. The inspectors would be doing no such thing. If Saddam ever turns over any of his devices, it'll be because the US military is sitting just outside the border ready to take a good solid 'whack'. It always amazes me that people want to 'let the inspectors do their job'. If not the inspectors, who then was doing the job that destoryed tons of weapons between 1992 and 1998? Well they can't. Their job description is to verify that Iraq is disarming. And since Iraq isn't disarming there isn't anything to verify. Except a few empty warheads and maybe some missiles that can fly a tad too far. That they are going around doing surprise searches is a huge charade. Their job is to inventory WMD and then destroy them. Again, that's what they did between 92 and 98. From where are you getting your info? Why is it that people don't understand this? This is one of the huge failures of the current administration IMHO. Now we have a significant part of the American population (and the world) thinking more inspections could somehow bring a peaceful solution even while Saddam refuses to disarm. Completely ignorant and wrong, but there is not a loud counterargument for anyone to hear. Using the word 'inspector' in the first place is a bell that should not have been rung, as it is misleading in this circumstance. As of 1998, UN inspectors had destroyed 96% of Iraq's WMD. The rest of world has not been mislead. Its why the current administration can not say otherwise.....its one of their few failures. In spite of the fact its worked for ten years, Bush doesn't believe Saddam can be controlled this way and wants him deposed. ted
