I do understand the new found patriotism, but it started way earlier actually, if you look back to let's say the Olympics, ( that's where I first realized it) when ever the American flag is being shown, or the Anthem played, one sees teary eyes ,____standing at attention, hand over heart. The USA started with it, now it is quiet common for other nations too, the world, ever since WW1 is imitating the States. ( I remember growing up in Vienna and adoring everything American!)
