estimated costs of the vietnam war are $150B. going from 1970 to 2001 dollars that comes to about $700B. depending on where you count from, the vietnam disaster lasted more or less 10 years. rumsfeld says iraq is going to take two weeks.

either that $200B is a number pulled out of somebody's ass or rumsfeld is preparing for a war lasting longer than he is letting on about.

which would be, again, shades of johnson and southeast asia.
