<<...Americans of every stripe should be able to see clearly that we MUST do everything to protect ourselves, so we can go about our daily business...>>

KLP: I believe that this Administration has been hijacked by the NeoCON warhawks and is leading us down the wrong path...

-We have a reckless and irresponsible Bush budget with deficits that are way too high -- projected to be in the hundreds of billions this year (and that doesn't even include projections for the potential war with Iraq)...High Federal deficits crowd out private borrowing and drive up interest rates and this is bad for business and our economy.

-We see Bush & Co. that are unwilling to level with the country about the true cost of this possible war in Iraq...Why are we willing to bribe Turkey for up to $26 Billion to get their support for this 'elective War' AND we still spend less than 1/20 of that amount on Homeland Security in our country right now...? Something is very wrong here...IMO, Bush has UNDERfunded effective Homeland Security efforts and failed to help out the states that have had to spend significantly on new security measures since 9/11.

-What if our intervention in Iraq actually destabilizes the Middle East and spawns more terrorism and Anti-American sentiment...? As Colonel Hackworth would say you don't get into an 'elective war' until you have exhausted ALL available options AND have properly secured your homeland -- I don't feel we have done either of these things.

We may not be safe in this country until we get 'regime change' in Washington...We need thoughtful leadership and we need to get rid of our 'pre-emptive strike policy'...This sets a VERY DANGEROUS precedent around the world...The Bush Administration has antagonized allies and jeopardized the North Atlantic Alliance...We need to listen to our Allies and value their input...Its time to build coalitions and look for new ways to solve problems in the 21st Century.
