my proposal is to take 100bn, a tiny fraction of the war budget, and create infrastructure, schools, hospitals etc under US supervision in iraq and afghanistan. lift sanctions and monitor the finances. What saddam hopes to achieve thru aggression and hegemony can very well be achieved thru education and better living standard for the people, especially since his is the most progressive nation in the entire middle east. What US hopes to achieve thru war, can very well be achieved thru mentoring and developing the people of that country. instead of diverting people of both country towards negatives, divert them towards positives.

If that is done, if US genuinely helps his country grow without major strings attached, why would he want to attack US? Why would anyone wanna attack US?

And as for france, germany - why should we care what they do? Just because you have a bad neighbor (N1) and your other neighbor(N2) is contemplating killing N1, doesn't mean *you* go around killing N1 and his family.

and btw: i care too. so now cut that michael savage garbage outta your system. <g>
