I believe you owe an account of your actions to interested parties. Whether before or after the fact, depends upon circumstances. If possible, it is preferable to consult ahead of time, of course, so that one may take into account their views. As for the heads up, it is preferable, but not necessary, unless, of course, backlash is deemed fairly likely.
Most decisions are made with a degree of uncertainty, and there is plenty of room for non- culpable failure. If and what I owed them would depend upon factors not yet pondered.
I would not judge the naysayers right just because things had gone a certain way, though, since one calculates according to best information. I would have to be convinced that I should have foreseen what in fact happened. |
