SAN JOSE, Calif., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Microtec(R), a Mentor Graphics company and the pioneer in open development systems and real-time operating systems (RTOSs) for embedded devices, will host seven classes at Embedded Systems Conference West '97 to be held September 30 through October 2 in San Jose, Calif. This is the most topics being presented by one company at the conference. Four classes are being given for the first time, while three classes -- ``C or C++ Programming Techniques,'' ``Designing with Real-Time Kernels'' and ``Inside Real-Time Kernels''-- are back by popular demand from the Embedded Systems Conference East '97 held in Boston earlier this year.
``Microtec is sharing its extensive embedded systems expertise with software developers in a broad range of topics to help save them time and money throughout development,'' says Vin Ratford, chief operating officer. ``The popularity of these sessions affirms that embedded developers depend on and trust Microtec technology.''
The ``how-to'' classes will provide embedded developers with the information they need to be more productive and keep their skills current. The complete list of Microtec classes includes: ``Adopting Programming Conventions,'' ``Inside Real-Time Kernels'' and ``Designing with Real-Time Kernels''by Jean LaBrosse, senior consulting services engineer; ``Debugging Drivers with Emulators and Logic Analyzers'' by Stephen O'Reilly, consulting services engineer; ``Using C++ Efficiently in Embedded Applications'' by Ceasar Quironx, project leader; ``C or C++ Programming Techniques: Parts 1 and 2'' by Bob Monkman, technical marketing manager of the Run-Time Solutions Business Unit; and ``Don't Reach for That Target Board -- Simulate Your Software'' by Ray O'Farrell, principal engineer for the Tools Business Unit and Giampiero Caprino, staff engineer for the Tools Business Unit.
For more than 20 years, Microtec has developed pioneering and industry-standard technologies for the embedded marketplace. Embedded software runs the computers ``hidden'' inside an increasing variety of products from VCRs to cellular telephones, networking routers and hubs, telecommunications switches, medical instrumentation, flight and automotive control systems, and even video games and graphics terminals.
