Actually the Z is my #1 candidate.

Other posibilities - Mazda RX-8, Subaru Impreza WRX Sti, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Infiniti G35, Honda S2000.

I'd consider a BMW 3 series but the 325 doesn't have enough power and the 330 is perhaps too expensive and still has less power then any of the above cars. The M3 of course is way too expensive.

IF it turns out I can't spend quite as much as I would need to get one of these then the cheaper vehicles I would look at would be the Subaru Impreza WRX (non Sti version), the Acura RSX Type S, and the Mustang GT.

Not all sports cars but all cars with good perfomance.
