SAN DIEGO, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM - News), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced that Transport Industries, a leading supply-chain transportation systems provider, is enhancing its fleet management system with QUALCOMM's satellite-based mobile communications solutions. Transport Industries has signed a contract with QUALCOMM to install more than 1,400 OmniTRACS® mobile communications system units over the next three months. The OmniTRACS system features include real-time data communications, automatic vehicle tracking, and seamless, nationwide coverage. In addition, Transport Industries can integrate OmniTRACS data throughout its back-office systems, such as dispatch, payroll and accounting.
QUALCOMM's OmniTRACS system is a satellite-based mobile communications and tracking system that provides real-time messaging and position reporting between fleets and their operations centers. Messages are sent via satellite through QUALCOMM's Network Management Center to dispatch centers throughout the United States.
