Karen.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. In 1993, the WTC was bombed by radical extremist terrorists not unlike those monsters who would later destroy the WTC. What if they had succeeded in destroying the WTC building(s) at that time. Should we have declared war on someone? There were no terrorist attacks within our borders from then until 9/11/01. Evidently people were doing their jobs to keep our nation safe those eight years.

Everyone in this country was ready to take up arms against whatever country was responsible for the horrific events of 9/11. Later Bush revealed that sources found that a terrorist group called al Qaeda led by Osama bin Laden had been responsible. They al Qaeda were in Afghanistan; so we invaded. The al Qaeda connection to Iraq just isn't there. There are proven terrorist ties to Pakistan, however. Yet we are send 200k troops to invade Iraq. Even our troops don't hate the Iraqis, they feel pity for them because it will be such a slaughter. How is invading Iraq going to save us from terrorism, going to save the Iraqi people? It won't. Colin Powell states that if we attack Iraq we can expect a flurry of terrorist attacks within this country. We've not had ANY since 9/11, why do want to do something to jeopardize our nation? Killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis is hardly the way to liberate people, the blowback from this extreme act is not something most in this country want.
