LOL! If you only have a couple of weeks, trying to fit LA in is fairly burdensome. (Of course, if you are on an expense account and can travel first class, it is less so). I have gone to both New York and Boston in June, it is a pretty good month for it, although it can get somewhat hot in New York. They are having a retrospective comparison of Picasso and Matisse at the Museum of Modern Art, unfortunately moved to Queens due to construction on the main site. If you go out to Queens, you should also work in the Museum of the Moving Image, part of the famous Astoria Studios. It has a lot of interesting exhibitions of television and film production.
The last few years, I have stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites on Times Square, which puts one right in the action. It is especially good if your focus is the theater district, of course. It is moderately priced, and has a separate sitting room along with the "chambre de lit".
I like to stay at the Boston Park Plaza, although I have been elsewhere in the city. One can often find surprisingly good deals for very nice rooms........ |
