Yes, demand draws out supply, and as people get wealthier they 'move up the ladder' and eat a 'higher quality' of food.

As to World population stabilizing, the trend seems (quite to the amazement of many scientists) to be towards that.

If memory serves... projections are for 'steady-state' maybe some 50 years into the future at perhaps double the present day world population.

Significantly, many nations are now reproducing at below replacement levels. I believe some of them are: Scandinavia, Germany, Italy (most Catholic of nations), Japan, Russia, etc.

The U has one of the higher growth rates among the developed world... and that's largely because of immigration: many immigrant communities maintain higher birth rates for a generation or two.
