Well, that is my opinion. I don't see a bunch of rich kids filling those ranks in the military. The rich are smarter than that; they are the ones starting the wars in the first place.

Why don't we reinstitute the draft and make people from all economic backgrounds serve in the military. As much as I dislike the military, I think it's a good idea because it would restore some fairness to our system if everyone had to serve. I'm sure we wouldn't get entangled in so many military engagements if the wealthy had their sons and daughters serving in the military along side with the common people.

I'd gladly wear our uniform if it meant defending our country from an outside agressor. But, I'm afraid that the war against Iraq might just invite more agression against our country. It is my opinion that the 1st Gulf War didn't make our country a safer place to live and in fact might have been a catalyst for the 9/11 attacks. OBL and company cited our stationing of troops in the holy land as their number one reason for attacking us. Violence begets violence. Preventing another war against Iraq is a good way to break the cycle of violence.
