Fillmore, if the Bush plan to pay countries to help oust Saddam (really little more than a bribe, since we don't specify how the money should be used) had any prospect for long term success, then one might want to give it some consideration. But the plan virtually guarantees even more terrorism than before and does nothing to establish the kinds of institutions that might eventually lead to more responsive governments in the Middle East. Bottom line is that it's going to cost the U.S. taxpayers a lot of money, and we're not going to get much in return, other than trouble.
