If you are interested in the war on drugs, as I am, an absolutely not-to-be missed read is Charles Bowden's Down By The River. I cannot tell how important this book is though it is written by a "non-expert." amazon.com I also highly recommend Poppa's Drug Lord, a very interesting book about Pablo Acosta Villareal, who was Amado Carrillo Fuentes' predecessor. You'll read it in one sitting. amazon.com
