Thanks for your response Hawkmoon. I've simply got too much on my plate to carry on this debate. I think I've made some valid points and I'll pretty much rest on 'em.
I'll close my end of our mini-debate encounter, with the following:
* I think, overall, the American public has been fed a steady misdiet of information, information that is less true than true;
* that the plausibility for this war, by its very nature and in accordance to what constitutes a just war (do a google.com search folks, type in "just war."), is very weak, at best.
* that this war will do more harm than good, and that it is fueled more on speculation than on fact.
* that the inspections process, which really are in an infant stage since their renewal, could produce positive results as it has already.
* that Bush prematurely committed too great of a military force, such that he's now boxed in with the need to use it to save face. It's my view he should send most of this force to the North Korea theater, and have UN forces replace the American forces so as to continue to apply pressure on Saddam.
* I think the sanctions should gradually be lifted as positive inspections results keep flowing.
* I think the US should meet with both Saddam and Kaddifi and attempt to enlist their support in the war against terrorism.
* I think Bush should stop showing, whether he knows it or not, that he's the kind of gunfighter who'll draw first in a good ole' fashion western. Perhaps even he and Saddam could collaborate on the making of a new kind of Spaghetti Western--Iraqi-style--lol!
Anyway, Hawkmoon, was is failure and I don't think even our own generals want this one. If war need exist is should exist for good reason only. This one doesn't fit.
I enjoyed the dialogue--best wishes to ya! |
