>Nonsense. Iraq will rebuild itself. They're an advanced society with an educated middle class, the second largest supply of oil in the world, and a great infrastructure which will be largely untouched by the war.

I agree with absolutely none of that, honestly. States with such terrible ethnic infighting cannot rebuild themselves. I'm for this war now, but if Bush were to get on TV in his next State of the Union and say what you just said, I'd be heading right down to the next anti-war rally.

>What are you talking about? WE'RE not going to spend "trillions"!!! Hell, I'm not sure what you think is going on, but this is NOT the Marshall Plan.

I think I've been trying to delude myself into thinking it is, because that's what I want it to be. My hopes of that happening are fading. The Middle East DESPERATELY needs a Marshall Plan. We need to put the Arab countries on lockdown, like we did with Germany and Japan- let them know that what we're doing is good for them, but they're not going to have a choice. If we're not going to do this, I'm out of the pro-war group.

>>Perhaps not, but in theory, government programs have the most potential for maximum efficiency

>Do you know how absurd this sounds? You can't point to one government program that has been run with efficiency, yet you want to turn over the biggest single sector of our economy to government? Does this really make sense to you?

Yes. Entirely. Just because something hasn't been done doesn't mean it can't.
