I heard Feinstein on C-SPAN tonight...

She is very thoughtful -- too bad we don't have someone like that as president right now.

Senator Feinstein gave a lecture at the Center for National Policy...

She talked about how our greatest challenge is national security...she thinks we are at a crossroads now and is VERY CONCERNED about how the U.S. is conducting foreign policy.

-She feels Bush's focus on a unilateral approach has damaged our credibility and war on terrorism efforts...she cited the Administration's reluctance to embrace important treaties and follow international law.

-She fears this Administration favors using military power to solve problems to the exclusion of other important options.

-She commented on Bush's new 'Doctrine of Pre-Emption' and feels its very counter-productive and is in contrast to Bush's campaign pledge to be humble in conducting foreign policy...She was critical of the new Nuclear Posture Review as well as Bush's National Security Strategy.

-Finally, Feinstein emphasized the value of LISTENING to allies and working with them to solve global problems...she's a big believer in coalitions and a multi-lateral approach to foreign policy.
