No, a more accurate paraphrase is "if you treat Washington's advice as influenced by the period in which he gave it., why not the advice of his admired contemporaries the same way.". I never indicated that either should be ignored. The Consititution, being a document, cannot give advice, it can only record the consensus of those who signed. It is useful to understand why the founders placed the words they did into this contract, but their deliberations still took place in their own time and environment and it is important to not only look at their intentions, but also their assumptions.
