My short Autobiography

I joined the Navy right out of High School (in 1980). I went to boot camp,
several technical schools, and Submarine School before being assigned to
the first of 3 Submarines I would eventually serve on.

The first boat I served on was the USS George Bancroft (Blue Crew).
I was stationed onboard her from Nov 1982 - Feb 1984...3 Submarine deterrent patrols.
I was then transferred to USS James Monroe (Gold Crew) and was attached to her from
Feb 1984 - May 1986. 4 Submarine deterrent patrols.

note...the "Cold War" was in full swing during these years.

In May of 86, I was transferred to San Diego for a tour of Instructor duty teaching
Telecommunications to young sailors fresh out of boot camp. That lasted until
July 1989.

I then transferred to USS Flasher (SSN-613) where I served until September 1992.
USS Flasher was decommissioned at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and I was transferred
to Comsubpac, where I served until 1995 when I retired.

My service in the Navy...while difficult at times...was something I will never regret
and will always look back on with pride. To the young servicemen and women
that pick up the torch as we cold war vets get out, I wish only the best. Please
remember those that came before you, and understand that we are fully behind
you...no matter what lies ahead.

-Joe
