Interesting rumor, Scott. Sounds like the "solution" the Europeans came up with to deal with Napolean after he lost most of his army in Russia - sent him into exile. He was soon back and on the attack again. Hope they don't leave his son in charge while he's on vacation. ;-)

Seriously, it has some merit as a possible peaceful solution. But how do you keep him from using his billions to continue funding Middle East terrorists or manipulate, undermine or assassinate new Iraqi leadership and eventually seize control again? Perhaps he would actually "retire" if no one was trying to have him tried for his crimes (like the new government as has happened to other overthrown dictators), but it's a stretch to believe that's possible for him.

In any case, assuming there's even a grain of truth behind this story, it's good to see that the pressure may be leading to some creative solutions that would avert war.
