Success for the Christian cannot be measured in numbers or political muscle, but only in faithfulness. Our most important weapon is not our voting power, but the power of the truth freely spoken and freely heard.
That was quite a straight-shooting, no-nonsense article. Thanks. It is also very sobering. Often we Evangelicals tend to think we have some sort of special privilege in this country - that pro choicers, homosexuals, liberals and others should listen to us simply because they are wrong and we are right. I have, unfortunately, been guilty of this.
The fact is, God knows what He is doing. We have His truth. I think we ought to enjoy spreading it by various means and let Him take care of who hears and who rejects. For me, the joy is in merely telling the truth, creatively, with joy, intensity, sorrow and whatever else exists within the personality that God has generously given me.
I no longer worry about whether anyone will be converted to my views. The Earth is going to spin and then perish however artful or foolish I am. I have faith in the truth, that if I tell it freely, God will find a way to miraculously use it. |
