It's not. I was just throwing that in there to imply that I think that universal day care should be as accessible as I think universal health care should be.

Well, for one, there are tons of working mothers out there. I've got a woman working in my office who's just wonderful. She originally turned down the job because it wouldn't have provided enough money to cover for her daughter's day care, though we'd be paying her reasonably well. We eventually had to sweeten the deal to get her aboard. It's a real concern.

Also, I think that the earlier a child can read and do simple arithmetic, the better. Many of these day care programs aren't particularly educational, but they should be.
