Things have really been happening. Wonder what Microsoft 47% increase over '95 will do for the market overall?
Thanks to my friend Bob's suggestion about doing something, I picked up my phone and called IOMEGA. (*)!)778-1000. They gave me a SF number to discuss some of my concerns (415)397-2686. I'm annoyed, the note I wrote the name down on in my haste upon leaving work today, I left in the office, but his name was Mr. Harvey Gorman, or Korman. Will give the correct appelation 2morrow. Still, these were his points:
-Reference the street's response to the earnings. Total surprise. His comment was "first WS ridicule internet threads such as this, this uses the internet as the scapegoat for IOMEGA not meeting the thread's estimates!" Go Figure...
-Shorts have been damaging the value of the stock for some time, but he felt that most of that is over. What's happening now is many earnest believers who are being margined out of positions, and forced to sell. Today's 13 mil down from the 18 mil on Friday.
-The comment on the European situation is that some management shifts may be in order. Wouldn't be surprised if KE himself had the time to go shake them up. Let's hope!!
He then asked me about the conference call. Told me it would be available only until Wednesday. But the bottom line is what more right could they do. Asked him about any more OEMs, he was non-committal, but said as they are signed, the announcements will be made.
The other thing I did today was shared with a colleague at work who is getting ready to buy a new computer is to try the IBM Aptiva...with the Zip drive when it's available. That's what I did for IOMEGA today, made a convert, and talked 2 the brass. 2morrow his correct name. So embarassed, but I wanted to get this on the thread.
