LOL!!! Come on. Let's talk talk reality here. Saddam ain't going into exile. At least not until the very end. He's going to order the poor slobs in the Iraq army to stand and fight and die for him. As we close in, he may take a quick flight to Libya with the remains of the Iraqi treasury. But that's the best you can hope for.

Rather DID ask Saddam directly if he would go into exile and he said no. If there were any chance of him saying otherwise, wouldn't he have given at least a hint then? How would you have gotten him to give the hint he would leave? I'd like an answer to that.

And the "cowardice" explanation won't cover Rather's despicable performance here. So he takes Rather prisoner and kills him? Ever heard of "casus belli"? That's all Bush needs and Saddam knows it. And Rather has to know it.

So his failure to ask those tough questions can only be explained because he is an apologist for Saddam.
