In 2002 power consumption peaked in Moscow region
Last year, the Moscow region was among few Russian regions where consumption peaked. It reached the highest level (75.4 bn kWt-h) since 1990 (74.1 bn kWt-h).
The highest consumption was registered on December 24, 2002 (14,230,000 kWt-h) which 4% higher than last year.
In 2002, AO MOSENERGO's power stations generated 71.2 bn kWt-h of electricity which is 0.2% lower than last year. This decrease was caused by operational conditions set by RAO UES. In accordance with the direction from the Central Dispatch AO MOSENERGO decreased the load on its power stations.
Despite decreased production levels in 2002, generation of electricity in Moscow grew by 2.1% against last year, reaching 48.4 bn kWt-h.
In 2002, AO MOSENERGO's own consumers received more power than last year (by 5.2%), in total – 57 bn kWt-h
To meet growing consumption needs in the Moscow region, AO MOSENERGO also purchased power at the wholesale market (FOREM), taking into account the economic interests of the system.
In 2003, AO MOSENERGO will face growing electricity consumption in the Moscow region approximately by 1.5%. |
