Microtune adds competition suit to Broadcom dispute Thursday February 27, 5:25 pm ET
PLANO, Tex., Feb 27 (Reuters) - Chip maker Microtune Inc (NasdaqNM:TUNE - News) filed a new lawsuit against competitor Broadcom Corp. (NasdaqNM:BRCM - News) on Thursday, alleging that Broadcom engaged in anti-competitive practices in the bundling of some chips.
Plano, Texas-based Microtune said the suit, filed in district court in Williamson County, Texas, alleges Broadcom violated the Texas Anti-Trust Act in bundling products together for cable modem devices, which Microtune claimed was an attempt to exclude competitors.
Microtune said in a statement it was asking for an injunction and unspecified monetary damages in the suit.
A Broadcom spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
Microtune already has a patent infringement suit pending against Broadcom in federal court in eastern Texas. The company said on Thursday opening arguments in that case had been set for March 6.
In late January, Broadcom said it had filed suit against Microtune in federal court in northern California, alleging patent infringement. That suit is in addition to a patent suit filed by Broadcom against Microtune that is also pending in federal court in eastern Texas. biz.yahoo.com |
