Of Peaceniks – Politicos – Saladins And Things That Go Bump in The Night.

>>Peacenik, in my definition, is someone who supports "peace at any cost", but is utterly unwilling to provide any alternative and viable method of achieving similar political results without the use of military force.<<

Last time I looked, those who suggest war is the only means, even as a last resort ( I’ll give the benefit of the doubt here ),have considered any position or alternative or the body themselves as “ irrelevant “ in the big game plan here.Even our good friend Tony Blair, you know…the guy who has tied his political career to this agenda, has been dismissed as “ irrelevant by the CIC( CowboyInChief <gg> ),when it comes to policy in the Middle East.

How would you suggest the lowly “ dope-smoking Peaceniks “ get their message across, without running into the same Iron Curtain of dismissal and the “ we know what is best for our country “ types and their marketing committees?

More demonstrations?

Equal time on the WAR-NOW Channels to provide some alternative thinking ?

An actual unbiased and broadcast public debate on the subject ?

A news conference with the CIC, where some realistic and uncensored questions might get asked?

Is this administration afraid to allow serious debate and face PEACE Activists publicly?

Worrisome…….

>>Believe me.. if someone could show me where a bunch of hippies could flock to Baghdad, stuff daisies into the AK-47s of Saddam's Republican Guard and cause them to immediately reveal all of their WMDs, I would be ELATED!!..<<

( they just HAVE to be REPUBLICANS ,eh? ) <GG>

This is the job of the inspectors, not the public at large, nor even the “ hippies “.Funny you regress to that again, even after my post proving the Peace Activists are anything but “ dope-smoking-hippies “. You appear to be having a problem with this concept Hawk.

Again…this is not the 1960’s or 1970’s.

>>>But this is a cruel world. A world full of people who have little regard for civilized behavior, or adhering to UN resolutions.<<

Tell us about it,and leave no stone unturned.

>>Anyone who think we could have defeated the Japanese or Nazis by offering ourselves as "human shields" for them is plaining living in another world that bears little resemblance of this one.<<

You’re right about that one, this is not the 1940’s .The enemy IS a different beast this time, and to revisit those days and compare the two is futile. There is absolutely no comparison here, and those who suggest otherwise are either fooling themselves,or are attempting to fool you and I and the masses,or all.

>>And the same applies here.. Saddam will do whatever he needs to do to remain in power as long as he can.. And hopefully, he'll cut a deal and become an exile. If not, he'll become a corpse.<<

Those who would do differently, whether elected or not,are scarce..at best. It’s just their circumstances that are different. How many “ leaders “ have taken their countries through hell in order to remain in power?Saddam is no different, and the politicos know that, however, it would be wrong to suggest a moral equivalence, where morals are not at issue.

Cripes!I wouldn’t doubt that some actually envy the power and position he has,as short as that may be going forward.,and secretly admire his tenacity and cunning to have stayed this long.Too many are cut from the same cloth,be they dictators or elected dictators or whatever.

OH! And if he does become a corpse…he wins….period.

Martyrdom will finally have been achieved, and he will be regarded as the latter day Saladin ,till the next “ Great Warrior “ emerges .

However,he will not go quietly into that good night. Heh heh heh

PS: How’s the weather ?<GGG>
