I was at the inauguration ceremony for the centre on Juno Beach last June 6. Everyone I've spoken too agrees that WalMart is a remarkably inappropriate sponsor. The point is, no Canadian company came forward. What does that say? I've approached a couple of flag-waving Canadian companies for modest amounts of money for a project which honours Canadian war dead, but evidently they don't think that's where they'll get the required brownie points. It's no discredit to WalMart that they stepped forward. It IS a disgrace to corporate Canada that the opportunity was still there when the Yank wanted to step in.
