Oh come on Marcos...
engaged as they are in the pursuit of sucking money out of this country while they lower the wages and overall quality, they would do better to leave our history the fuck alone and not try to rub themselves in it

You can hardly be upset at Walmart for doing what it is doing (attracting customers, making money). In fact, it would be pretty silly for a business to do otherwise. Is Walmart culpable for trying to reduce the nationalist backlash by them throwing a bone? I think not. Kudos to Walmart for good business sense.

If there is any embarrassment on our part, that is our fault. The reason Walmart employees earn low wages is that they don't have an opportunity to provide more valuable service elsewhere. The reason Walmart quality is so low is that that is what works for consumers. It is terribly disingenuous to blame a company, foreign or not, for responding to a market opportunity. It is even worse to say "it was cynically opportunistic, and grossly inappropriate" for supporting the community that feeds it.

I appreciate your patriotism, but nationalist xenophobia is not patriotic.
