I guess there was some truth in the Maine story you posted after all.

Yes, and the right wing is going to blow it up out of all proportion. I heard a phone interview on TV with the NG Colonel in Maine who investigated these stories. I guess there were several verifiable instances of Teachers in Schools making remarks to students. The rest were comments by other kids who were just repeating what their parents think.

One of the problems with this is you have 7 year olds repeating to Mommy what Mommy wants to hear by about the 10th time they tell her. Ya gotta remember these are the type of processes that turn out all the false sex claims against teachers. I saw one of my ex-wife's friends get framed this way at a grade school.

Then, when this gets reported, we have so much tension building up the Right naturally wants to exploit the situation in the media for Political reasons. DeLay will be on this like white on rice.

But, that said, there are some vicious people out there that would do this type of thing. The anti-war movement will have to take it's lumps on this, just like they do by letting people like ANSWER, and other pressure groups, take advantage of their desire to protest the Liberation of Iraq.

If you read Rather's piece about Saddam, you noticed how tuned in Saddam is to the anti-war crowd. He obviously figures they are going to help him survive. The Nazi's used the anti-war crowd here in the 30s to try to keep FDR from helping Britain.

So the left can't escape the "Pro Saddam" charge, and we on the right have to put up with the "McCarthyism" charge.
