U.S.: DON'T LET SADDAM FLEE

February 27, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - The military has prepared special pamphlets to be dropped over Iraq at the beginning of the war warning Iraqi citizens not to let Saddam Hussein escape, Pentagon officials said last night.
The pamphlet operation is one of several elaborate measures being developed by U.S. Central Command war planners to capture or kill the Butcher of Baghdad in the early hours of the war.

"It's a priority. We can't have a repeat of Afghanistan," said a U.S. military official referring to the escape of Osama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar.

Saddam is the world's best-protected tyrant, who hides out in a network of safe houses, underground bunkers and tunnel complexes, and U.S. officials admit that finding him will be difficult.
